Formulation/Parts of Plants Use

Let’s see one of the formula in which Ambahaldi is used.

  • For Bruises and Swellings.
  • Ambahaldi – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Raktachandan – 1 teaspoon
  • Kumari (Aloes) – half teaspoon
  • Multani Mati – 1 teaspoon

The paste is prepared by mixing all the above sieved powders with water. The paste is warmed on a low flame in a thick-bottom-vessel. The paste is continuously stirred to make into a poultice. The hot paste on cloth-piece is placed over bruises or swellings for fomentation & bandaged whilst the poultice is still warm. Or a thick lep of paste may be directly applied on swellings. It should be kept at least for 30 minutes and then washed. The lep may be applied 2 – 3 times a day as per need. The coagulated blood at the sites of swellings and bruises expands and thus reduce swelling and pain.

Let’s see one more formula of medicinal herbs where Ambahaldi has been used.

Boils and abcesses.

  • Ambahaldi – half teaspoon
  • Kumari (Aloes) – half teaspoon
  • Neem – half teaspoon
  • Jyeshthamadh – half teaspoon
  • Multani mati – 1 teaspoon

All these should be mixed in a required quantity of water and a thin paste is prepared, heated and used as poultice. Make a paste as per size of the boil or abcess and as far as possible, prepare fresh poultice every time. Already prepared and stored poultice, does not give desired results.

Some wounds take long time to heal. One gets tired of dressing the wounds. There is one formula of medicinal herbs for such non-healing wounds.

  • Arjun – half teaspoon

This above mixture is warmed, a thick paste is filled in washed would & bandaged. The wound is washed with Neem water twice a day and the lep is applied. The wounds heal fast. Taking neem powder ½ teaspoon with water orally is also beneficial. Those with history of hereditary diabetes, should take the formula for ‘diabetics tendencies’ given elsewhere in this book.

Many times, the scars are left after healing of wounds. Some get elevations called keloids. Keloid skin is under tension & sometimes it is painful. For such Problems the above formula proves beneficial.

The medicinal herbs used for wounds, inflammation bruises must be sterilised and pure, otherwise they way cause harm insted of being beneficial
